Washing your own vehicle doesn’t have to be intimidating

When you come to Scrubby’s, we want to make sure your dollar goes a long way. For us, that means a wash that gets your car as clean as possible while keeping costs low! Manually washing vehicles is a familiar sight for most, but it helps to have the right know-how going into it.

• Prepare yourself. Before you start your time at Scrubby’s, be sure to get everything done that can be completed ahead of time. If you plan to clean the interior of your car, clear away any garbage that might be in there and shake out your floor mats. Set your towels and other supplies off to the side and ready to go. Get situated before you start to make things as easy as possible when the suds start flowing!
• Be efficient. Pull your vehicle directly into the center of the bay to give yourself as much room as possible to maneuver around it. Most self-service car washes have a couple choices you can select to do your wash. Common options include pre-soak, wash, foam brush and rinse. Efficient washing often starts at the wheels, which can be the grimiest part of your vehicle. If there’s a tire cleaner option, apply that first and give your wheels a thorough scrub. After you’ve hit the wheels, turn to the rest. If your vehicle is really dirty, use the pre-soak, but if it’s less dirty, feel free to go for the rinse. Get the soap off your wheels first, then follow a top-down approach to whisk dirt off and away. Once the initial steps are done, apply the suds with the wash, which is also known as high-pressure soap. You could also use the foam brush here if you’d like, but be sure to thoroughly rinse it off before use to knock out any grime or debris before applying it to your own vehicle. Either way, get your ride nice and soaped, and scrub vigorously with a eye for stubborn areas. Once you’ve done that, rinse thoroughly to get all the soap off.
• Dry off. Our air shammee can make short work of drying your vehicle without leaving so much as a spot. Use it!
